A round above a pear, hung so the drop swings
Drop earrings built as a round brilliant at the top with a larger pear-shape suspended beneath it on an articulated link, so the drop moves independently of the stud.
The articulation is the whole design. A rigid drop hangs dead and shows one face; a hinged one turns constantly with the smallest movement, which is why these throw far more light than their size suggests.
Pears are also the shape where symmetry between a pair matters most. The point has to hang true on both sides or the eye catches it immediately.
